Our Story
From frustrated Etsy seller to AI design platform serving 15,000+ users
Look, I started WearMind in early 2024 after burning through $5,200 on freelance designers for my Etsy t-shirt shop. I'm not a designer—I studied business, sold print-on-demand shirts as a side hustle, and kept hitting the same wall: fresh designs cost too much and took too long.
I'd wait 4-7 days per design revision. Paid $80-150 per graphic. And honestly? About half didn't sell. The math didn't work for testing new niches or seasonal trends. I needed 30+ designs per month to stay competitive. That would've cost me $2,400 monthly just for graphics.
Then I tried Stable Diffusion XL in late 2023. First attempt was terrible—weird proportions, muddy colors, looked nothing like what I described. But by the tenth try, I had a vintage sunset design that sold 47 shirts in two weeks. That's when it clicked: this works, but most people won't spend 3 hours learning prompt engineering.
So I built WearMind. A tool that handles the technical stuff—prompt optimization, style selection, background removal—while you focus on the creative vision. We launched with 12 beta testers (mostly Etsy sellers and small POD shops). Within 6 months, we hit 15,000+ users generating 500,000+ designs.
We're not trying to replace professional designers. You still want custom illustration work for your core brand identity. But for testing trending niches, seasonal drops, or event merch? WearMind gets you usable designs in under 2 minutes, not 2 weeks.
Our Mission
Enable anyone to create professional t-shirt designs without design skills or big budgets.
Traditional design creation has three barriers: cost ($80-150 per design), time (3-7 days turnaround), and skill (you need Illustrator or Photoshop expertise). We remove all three.
Our AI generator produces 1024x1024px transparent PNGs optimized for print-on-demand platforms. You get full commercial rights—use designs on Etsy, Redbubble, your own store, client projects. No attribution required.
We're building for POD sellers who need fresh catalog content, small businesses creating event merchandise, content creators launching merch lines, and anyone who's been quoted $350 for 5 designs with a 2-week turnaround.
Yeah, the first design might not be perfect. Most users need 2-3 iterations to nail the exact style. But that takes 5 minutes instead of 5 days of designer back-and-forth.
Technology
WearMind uses Stable Diffusion XL (SDXL), specifically the model trained on design and illustration datasets. It's the same technology powering Midjourney and Adobe Firefly, but we've optimized it specifically for t-shirt graphics.
Here's how it works:
Prompt Optimization
You type "cute tiger cartoon for kids." Our system expands that into a detailed prompt with style parameters, composition rules, and color guidance. Works best with English prompts (we're working on multilingual support).
Style Adaptation
Choose from 6 design styles: Minimalist, Vintage, Cyberpunk, Watercolor, Typography, or Illustrative. Each style uses different model parameters and post-processing filters.
Background Removal
All designs export as transparent PNGs, ready for dark or light shirt colors. Resolution is 1024x1024px at 300 DPI—print quality for most POD services.
Generation Time
Usually 30-90 seconds depending on complexity and server load. Peak hours (10am-2pm EST) can push that to 2 minutes.
Technical specifications:
- Output: 1024x1024px, 300 DPI, transparent PNG
- File size: 800KB - 2.5MB average
- Color space: sRGB (compatible with most printers)
- Formats supported: PNG download, JPG preview
Limitations we're honest about:
- •Works best with English prompts (Spanish and Chinese supported but less accurate)
- •Text in designs is hit-or-miss (the AI struggles with spelling)
- •Photorealistic faces don't always look right
- •Complex scenes with 5+ elements can get messy
We're not magic. It's powerful AI trained on millions of design examples, but you'll still need to refine prompts and generate variations to get exactly what you want.

15,000 users, 500,000+ designs, 6 style options
Team
WearMind started as a solo project (me, the founder who couldn't afford designers), but we're now a small team of 4:
Founder/Developer
That's me. Former Etsy seller, mediocre coder, obsessed with making design accessible. Still answers support emails.
AI Engineer
Handles model optimization and prompt engineering. Previously worked on image generation at a tech startup.
Product Designer
Makes the interface not confusing. Also creates our template library.
Community Manager
Runs our Discord, features community designs, and collects feedback for new features.
We're bootstrapped, profitable since month 3, and focused on building a tool we'd actually use ourselves. No venture capital, no growth-at-all-costs mentality. Just solving a real problem for people like us.
